This is my final stand

The air was cold and dry that early spring morning. It would send chills down your spine if you so much as fell victim to it’s harsh winds.
G-Money stood atop a small hill that overlooked the entire Dackle herd, which was still in deep slumber from the restless night. He watched forlornly as even Magnum himself slept his troubles away. Even a leader such as himself needed rest, too. Everything around was silent and desolate. No birds were singing to the soon arising morning sunlight. No squirrels or chipmunks played in the damp grass...Nothing. He couldn’t even hear the sounds of any rival herds awaking. It seemed that he was the only one who was up and stirring.

Though, something very deep was troubling his burdened mind as he wistfully gazed down at the herd. He could see Pain laying down next to Chandler and Gage as they stood in their own slumber, simply safe and sound she was. She seemed very peaceful lying there with them. So he knew she would be in good hands...

“It’s just not fair. Why does this have to happen?” He whispered lightly to himself. A deep, rueful frown drew in his face. His mouth fell flat.

He pinned his ears back flat into his wide skull and closed his now teary eyes. He thought about something long and hard for a few moments. When he opened his eyes they had turned a bright shade of crimson red, you could tell something was severely bothering him, more so than normal. Suddenly a wave of chilling air swept past his russet body. He threw his head back gently and gave in to the wind’s brisk currents. His mane danced back into the wind and he drew back lightly, then he reclaimed his stance there on the hill.

“I know what must be done, I just can’t bear the thought.” He said aloud as he sighed and gently turned around and sauntered off into the fog.

Wow, this is my new favorite. I enjoyed drawing this piece so much. I know the story is a little short but I wanted to hurry up and upload it. ^^ I really hope you guys like it. I worked very hard on it.
